Makepeace Island is the private hideaway of Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Blue (Australia) co founder Brett Godfrey and is located upstream from Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The heart shaped island is authentically Balinese in design and build to luxuriously accommodate up to 22 guests. The main entertaining areas overlook the spectacular lagoon pool and include a 2 storey raised Wantilan (Balinese for ‘open sided’) featuring handcrafted rustic daybed, antiques and silk furnishings. The Long House is home to the Island bar and games area and is one of multiple open air and balcony dining areas available on the property. Gardens and indoor decor include giant sculptures, teak, granite and stone finishes, volcanic boulder bathtubs and ornamental lighting. The island is hired exclusively for guests to explore the 25-acre property in seclusion.

Terms & Conditions
In these terms and conditions, the contracting ‘Company’ is Makepeace Island (Operations) P/L, ACN 151 492 161, a company incorporated in and under the Laws of Queensland, Australia. ‘We’ shall mean the Company. The ‘client’ shall mean the person who has paid the deposit as the ‘Contracting client’. Each person listed within the booking is a ‘guest’. ‘You’ shall mean the client.
Reservations will be converted to bookings upon the client paying a deposit of 30% of the accommodation charge for bookings made at least 90 days prior to the arrival date. Deposit must be received within 7 days after notification of the reservation or the date 90 days prior to the departure date, whichever occurs first. The balance of the accommodation charge must be paid no later than 60 days prior to the arrival date. A reservation will lapse if the client does not pay the deposit by the due date for the relevant payment.
A binding contract will be formed when Makepeace Island confirms the booking, which it will do on receipt of the deposit. Makepeace Island reserves the right to withdraw, change, cancel or reallocate the accommodation and the arrival date at its discretion until the booking is confirmed. Clients must submit requests for variations in writing to Makepeace Island (email or fax).
Balance or payment must be made in full 60 days prior to the date of arrival. For bookings made within 60 days of travel, payment must be received within 48 hours of booking. A booking, is not validated until full payment is received and Makepeace Island confirms acceptance in writing.
VALIDITY OF RATES:
Unless otherwise specified, all rates are valid from 01 April 2012 to 31 March 2014. We reserve the right to amend rates should the cost of services increase beyond our control.

Credit card payments will be accepted, however, an administration fee directly imposed upon us by the credit card company will be charged. Currently, these fees are set at 2.5% for Visa, MasterCard and American Express. A credit card authorization form must be completed and signed.
PRE-ARRIVAL DEPOSITS FOR SECURITY BOND OR CLIENT REQUESTED EXTRA SERVICES:
You acknowledge and accept that a bond is required to be paid no later than 14 days prior to your arrival. This acts as both a security bond and for coverage of any extra services utilized during your stay.
The value of the bond will be:-
a. $AUD 5,000.00 per stay for groups of less than 10 guests
b. $AUD 10,000.00 per stay for groups of 10 or more guests
Upon arrival at Makepeace Island a pre-authorization of your credit card is also required and all accounts must be settled prior to your departure from the Island. Further payments may be required if there is loss or damage or additional services exceeding the bond amount. If additional expenses are less than the bond amount, the difference will be refunded to you.
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT:
Arrival check-in on the Island is from 2:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am on the departure day. If this does not suit your arrangements, we will endeavor to meet your requirements but they will be subject to other bookings or commitments, maintenance, staffing availability or factors beyond our control.
LOSS, DAMAGE, INJURY:
Makepeace Island takes no responsibility for loss of a guest’s or day visitor’s property, or personal injury. Guests and their day visitors are responsible for loss or damage of property belonging to them and for the damage or loss of property belonging to the property during their stay.
Specifically and also for your safety and that of your group and our staff, smoking is not allowed in or around the buildings, boats, bedrooms and other island structures (adequate outside areas are however provided).
You understand and acknowledge that guests will be required, prior to arrival, to sign a deed of release and indemnity absolving the company, its employees and representatives from all liability for death or bodily injury or any loss or damage that they may sustain or incur as a result of any aspect of the activities during their stay.
NOISE, PARTIES & BEHAVIOUR:
Makepeace Island is for registered guests and their approved Day Visitors only. The property is to be used for short term residential accommodation only.
Due to the restrictions imposed upon us by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, the hosts will advise you on arrival what is deemed permissible in relation to noise and partying.
The property may not be used for any commercial purpose or function without the permission of Makepeace Island. If after a warning, your behavior or that of your guests causes damage, danger or annoyance we reserve the right to ask you to vacate the property immediately and be treated as a cancellation inside 30 days.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Queensland and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland; save that the Company shall be entitled to enforce the agreement against the client in any other country in which the client is resident, domiciled or has a place of business.
Any cancellation of reservations by the client must be provided in writing to Makepeace Island, and are subject to payment of the cancellation fees set out below and will be effective only upon written acknowledgement by Makepeace Island.
If a cancellation is received more than 90 days prior to the arrival date, Makepeace Island will refund the deposit paid or a full refund of monies will be paid where applicable.
If a cancellation is received between 90 days and 60 days before the arrival date, Makepeace Island will retain or charge the full deposit (being 30% of the accommodation charge) as the cancellation fee.
If a cancellation is received 60 days or less prior to the arrival date but at least 30 days before the arrival date, a charge 50% of the booking cost is the cancellation fee.
If a cancellation is received less than 30 days prior to the arrival date, a charge 100% of the booking cost is the cancellation fee. 8.
No refunds can or will be given in connection with circumstances arising beyond the reasonable control of Makepeace Island i.e. flight delays by airlines/contracted charter companies or client failure to appear for accommodation. No refund can be given for any unused services or early departures.
