Wallaby Cottage - Single Night

Wallaby Cottage - Single Night Book

Wallaby Cottage is very private, but only a short walk to where all of the delicious Cedar Glen meals are served.

This 1900’s historic cottage that was relocated to Cedar Glen in the year 2000. It was originally from Marburg, off the Warrego Highway on the way to Toowoomba.

The Wallaby Cottage was shifted out in one piece and it was a major challenge getting it to where it sits today. The truck carrying the cottage had to reverse it up the hill, so to assist, we towed it with a large drot and 2 X 80-horse power four-wheel-drive tractors. Even with all of this extra power, the cottage was not going an inch further than where it is now located. The cottage takes its name from the family of wallabies that can regularly be seen from the veranda, particularly early morning and late afternoon.

Experience the original features of a classic Queenslander cottage, and enjoy the rural views as you relax on the verandah.

Dairy Cottage - Single Night

Dairy Cottage - Single Night Book

The Dairy Cottage is in an ideal location with spectacular views of the farm and Lamington national Park.

Roomy enough for a large family group, the air-conditioned Dairy Cottage is only a short walk to where all of the beautiful Cedar Glen meals are cooked. For those who prefer to self cater, it has a gas stove and oven, fridge, and microwave.

Built in 1949, this Cottage was built to provide housing for the people who would run the Cedar Glen Dairy. Initially after the Dairy closed in 1979, the cottage was rented to permanent tenants, but in the early 1990s as demand for Farmstay accommodation grew, we began renting the cottage to guests on a self contained basis. We have since done some renovations to keep improving the facilities, and it is now occupied on a regular basis, typically by larger families or groups of friends.

Cedar Glen Homestead - Single Night

Cedar Glen Homestead - Single Night Book

Cedar Glen is over 100 years old and is mostly in its original state providing guests a unique opportunity to experience a real sense of Australian country history. The price includes all meals from lunch on check in day to breakfast on checkout date.

Built in 1901 from timber grown on the property, The Homestead had only ever been occupied by the Stephens family until we began using the house solely for Farmstay purposes in 2000. As was common at the turn of the 20th century, the old Queenslander style houses were built in two sections. This is evident in Cedar Glen Homestead, where the front section is all living area, while the back section houses the kitchen, dining and lounge area. There is only a narrow verandah section separating the two, and the reason for this was for fire safety. In those days they considered the most likely place for a fire to start would be in the kitchen area. Such a design would give them a chance to stop the fire before it caught on to the living area, or at least give them a chance to escape.

The accommodation adjoins the dining area where the delicious Cedar Glen meals are prepared and served for guests. The dining room has an open fire place for winter warmth.

The huge open veranda is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the spectacular views.

Furnished with antiques, some of which have been in the homestead since it was built in1901, the house is of timber construction with high ceilings and large rooms and verandas.
