The Commercial Hotel has traded continuously since 1888. In the gold rush era of the late 1800's grand commercial buildings and private schools gave Charters Towers such presence that its inhabitants dubbed it 'The World' as it was said you could get anything you ever wanted in "The World."
Given the hotel's location at the top end of one of the city's main streets, the Commercial Hotel was affectionately and colloquially known as "The Top Pub in the World" and now boasts accommodation, three bars, two very popular dining areas and an outdoor shaded beer garden along with function facilities for 200 guests. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The person checking into the property, and signing the registration form acknowledges and agrees that these conditions apply and extend to any person occupying or visiting the Commercial Hotel at the invitation of or with authority of the Guest. Guests agree to pay all charges incurred by them and their visitors during their stay including any fees or charges incurred as a result of a breach of the terms and conditions below.
ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION. Guests should be aware that the premises are fully licensed and guest must abide by liquor licensing legislation regulation and house policies or they will be removed from the premises.
ROOM OCCUPANCY: Only the number of people designated on booking/check-in may stay overnight. You must advise us of any extra guests, or changes to guest numbers. For fire and safety reasons, we reserve the right to question the number of people present, and take any action necessary to ensure maximum occupancy is not exceeded, and/or extra guests or changes in guest numbers are declared.
NOISE/PARTIES: In the interests of quiet enjoyment and respect for all guests at the property, a no party policy applies. Group congregations in individual units that involve excessive alcohol consumption and/or result in any noise or disruption to other guests will not be tolerated. Management reserves the right to evict guests staying who have caused or are causing damage or disruption to the motel and its guests.
VISITORS/PURPOSE: The property must not be used for unlawful purposes and guests are requested to adhere to the rules ensuring every guest peaceful enjoyment of the location as any disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
SMOKING: Our hotel units are smoke-free inside. In the event of someone having smoked in the unit, specialised cleaning and deodorising treatment to remove all traces of smoke will be required. We reserve the right to charge such costs and any resulting loss of income to the registered guest. Smokers are asked to please use the ashtrays provided and smoke outside away from open windows, doors and other guests. Please be aware that smoking detected in any unit will incur a $120 cleaning charge.
PROPERTY DAMAGE/DEGRADATION: Any damage to or degradation of the Commercial Hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered guest.
The terms and conditions are for the safety and enjoyment of all our guests.
By booking your stay with us you agree to the above terms and conditions and personal responsibility for the payment in full of costs associated with the above accommodation. I also give my authorization to charge my credit card for any unpaid charges and any damage, theft from the unit(s) during my occupancy.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled or modified up to 6pm on date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, 100 percent of the first night will be charged.
