Welcome to the Hydro Esplanade Apartments online bookings. Our newly renovated spacious apartments are located right on Dunedin 's premium surf beach at St Clair. Enjoy the all year round holiday atmosphere , meet friendly locals, watch the ever changing ocean and surfers from your dining table. Leisurely walks on the long white sandy beach, fun at the family play ground, swims in the heated salt water pool, coffee at the local cafes and casual dining at the authentic Italian Esplanade Restaurant are all at your door step.
Over the past 93 years thousands have enjoyed the Hydro. In the 20's as the Hydro Grand Hotel, stylish dine and dance parties and weddings at the Hydro Tearooms in the 30's & 40's, then courting and chocolate sundaes at the Kandel Light Coffee Lounge during the 60's and 70's. We purchased the building in 1985 and opened Hydro Surf, Dunedin first surf shop.
A major renovation in 2013 of this iconic building included the redevelopment of Esplanade Restaurant by highly regarded New Zealand Restaurateur Katrina Toovey with an award winning interior design by Nat & Emily of Cheshire Architects . The top level flats that had seen many a party were also transformed into these WOW beach front apartments.

During these uncertain times we guarantee a full refund if you are unable to travel due to Covid travel restrictions imposed within 7 days of the 1st night of your stay.
Departure time is 10.30 am, if you would like a later check out please ask in advance and we will endeavor to accommodate you.
The Apartments are located in an historical building - the entire building is smoke free. Guests who smoke in the rooms or on the balcony's risk a $150 penalty. We appreciate guests who respect this request.
Payment Policy
The credit/debit card provided at the time of booking will be processed 7 days prior to the guests arrival date.

Cancellation Policy
Our guests can cancel free of charge up to 7 days before of the 1st day of their stay
Guests who cancel due to Gvt imposed convid 19 travel restrictions will be provided a full refund.
Guests who fail to show up they will be charged the total price of the reservation.
