Elwood is St Kilda’s lush, green, canal-side neighbour, close to the city and close to the sea, with winding streets of Art Deco mansions and a neat shopping village.

Pretty, peaceful Elwood can introduce you to a relaxed bayside lifestyle amidst stunning period architecture without having to give up the thrill of the city.

Its is a storybook suburb of winding streets named after poets, with a pretty canal running through the middle of it. While St Kilda attracts the tourists, Elwood attracts the more refined, with its village-y charm. Tree-lined streets meander down to the sea or up to Elsternwick, past bowling clubs, parks and cafes.

It’s picturesque, peaceful streets are home to a loyal mix of long-time locals and forty-somethings who still like sharing but don’t need neon outside their door. Younger people are drawn to Elwood’s plethora of roomy mid-century flats and its proximity to St Kilda.

The area feels like a village, with its quiet winding streets, bike paths and canal. Elwood Village kicks off around the roundabout at the corner of Glen Huntly Road and Ormond Road, where you’ll find all manner of cafes, organic supermarkets and local stores interspersed with newer, more recognisable businesses. The pace is relaxed, with the beach basically at the bottom of the street, fringed by grassy knolls that give gorgeous bay views.

This location is one of the prettiest patches of inner-city Melbourne, another world of sunny Art Deco apartments painted lemon and white, with curved windows and unique names embellishing the entrance.

You’ll also find Spanish-style blocks with twirled columns, blocks of spacious 40s and 50s flats around central courtyards, large Edwardian houses, magical mansions and some slinky new apartments on the tree-lined streets.

Our house is located right in northern pocket of Elwood precinct. Literally only 1 minute's walk to main Barkly Street, you can walk or catch a bus only a 2 minutes into the heart of bustling and eclectic St Kilda.

Beaches more your scene? Head to the foreshore, locate the Bay Trail bike path and simply follow due North - guaranteed you'll find more amazing spots to stop than there is time!

In general, public transport centres around two bus routes although Elsternwick Station isn’t far, nor is the 67 tram route on Brighton Road.

Terms & Conditions

As Guesthouse hosts of Little St Kilda, you can contact us most times between 9 and 5pm. Simply sms, email or call us and we’ll respond as soon as we are capable.

Guests are kindly requested to inform us in advance of their estimated arrival time. This can be noted in the Special Request box during booking, or by contacting us using the contact details found on the booking confirmation.

Early arrival and late departures are available upon request for a small surcharge and subject to availability.

After-Hours Check In

24/7 Self-assisted check-in is available for all check-ins after hours. You will receive instructions for self-check-in prior to arrival subsequent to full payment being received.

You will need to contact us by 9am the following next day to finalise your check-in and any balance of payment.

All guests must show a valid photo ID and credit card upon check-in which will be retained on file. The amount of $300 Security Bond will be required at the time of booking.

Security Bond is refunded within 5 days after check-out if no damage has incurred to the property.

At Little St Kilda all guests enjoy free in-room Wi-Fi, however there may be additional costs due to high data usage.

For all guests' privacy and comfort, Little St Kilda has a Strictly NO Party Rule.

By booking with us, you have agreed to read, understand and respect our Guesthouse Considerations. These are available via download in your arrival information.

After hour Noise Complaints – Guests will be charged a fee of Minimum $200.00 for each noise visit plus the cost incurred to the property in reimbursing the inconvenienced guests, staff wages to attend the incident and any other charges incurred.

All guests are expected to behave in a manner that does not cause distress to neighbors or interfere in any way with the quiet enjoyment of their property. We reserve the right to remove guests who do not adhere to this code of behavior. In these cases, no refund will be due, and we will not be responsible for finding or funding alternate accommodation, nor will we be responsible for any other associated costs.

Little St Kilda may at their absolute discretion alter these terms and conditions for specific bookings, and advise in writing, the terms and conditions that will apply (e.g. to group bookings or for peak period reservations).

*We adhere to the National Privacy Principles relating to the collection of personal information. Information collected from you during the booking process is required to either meet the requirements of State Legislation regarding the maintenance of a guest register, for fire safety reasons, for billing purposes and to offer services to you.

If you do not provide us with this information, we may be unable to provide you with accommodation. We may make this information available to third parties who assist us in providing services where required by law or to enforce our collection of amounts owing by you.

You must advise us if the details on your registration are incorrect. Personal information collected during your stay will be retained for a period necessary to comply with taxation and accounting requirements (usually seven years).

You may request access to personal information we hold about you. Copies (other than electronic data) are generally not available after one year. We will not permit any misuse of this data. We will adhere to our Industry Association standards for use of any personal information.

You agree to receive ongoing information from Little St Kilda in the future unless you advise otherwise in writing.

We supply linen, pillows, blankets and towels which must be left where supplied upon departure. Further linen may be hired through Management. Beach towels are not included.

Guests are requested not to use our linen in any way which may cause it to be irreparably stained/damaged, this includes but is not limited to make-up, sun-tanning products, and the like.

In the event of this and other matters, guests may be charged per the Fee Schedule which is available via download in your arrival information.

For guest staying more than 12 days, a mandatory linen change service is required at a cost of $25 each change.

Payment Policy

All payments for reservations, including Security Bond fee of $300 per booking, are to be paid in full via our payment gateway upon booking.

In some cases a 50% deposit may be required upon booking, with the balance required 30 days (minimum) prior to arrival. Security Bond fee of $300 per booking is required upon check-in. The Security Bond is refunded in full within 5 working days after departure subsequent to room inspection.

When utilizing payment via credit card, all transactions are subject to a 2.8% surcharge. American Express transactions are subject to a 3.5% surcharge.

Should you incur additional charges or penalties during your stay, we will charge these directly to your nominated credit card (details provided) and advise you of the charges.

By making payment of the total fee, you have an exclusive license to occupy the property for the days specified in the booking (but not possession).

You agree that regardless of your length of stay there is no tenancy or other rights created under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997.

We grant you a license and rooms and you agree that we may terminate the license at any time if any Terms and Conditions or Guesthouse Considerations have been breached.

Cancellation Policy

Reservations can be cancelled or amended until 30 days prior to your arrival date. A $30 administration fee applies.

Amendments can be made within 30 days of arrival (subject to availability) but not amendments resulting in less than 80% of the original reservation period. A $30 administration fee applies to each amendment.

If cancelled within 30 days of arrival, 50% cancellation charges are incurred.

Cancellations and amendments are not possible within 7 days of arrival. After that time the full accommodation charge will be due and non-refundable.

Deposits will not be refunded for cancellations made within 7 days of the arrival date and the full amount will be charged to your credit card.

A $30 administration charge is applicable to all refunds issued for cancellations made more than 7 days prior to arrival.

There will be no refund for early departures.

Peak periods including all Public Holidays, Event weekends and all Australian State school holidays require more than 30 days notice prior to arrival for cancellation or refunds, less $30 administration fee.

No refund is issued for cancellations made within 30 days prior to arrival for Peak periods including all Public Holidays, Event weekends and all Australian State school holidays.
