Terms & Conditions

We hope that you will enjoy your stay and make full use of our facilities. Lodge guests are kindly requested to observe the rules, so that their stay will be comfortable and safe. If guests do not observe these rules, the Lodge will be obliged to cancel their accommodations or Charge for penalty.
Guests are requested not to bring any animals or birds (except for service dogs), explosives, foul-smelling objects, unregistered firearms or swords, excessively large objects, or illegal drugs onto the lodge premises. Possession of prohibited items may result in cancellation of accommodation or a penalty charge.
1. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the lodge rooms and premises. Smoking is only allowed on the terrace and outdoor areas. If smoking occurs inside the room, a service charge of $250 will be applied.
2. Excessive cleaning charges will be incurred if the room is left in an unacceptable state upon check-out, and the cost will be from $300.
3. The legal blood alcohol limit is 50 milligrams per 100ml of blood, equivalent to 250mcg of alcohol per liter of breath. Guests are not allowed to drink and drive. Any damage caused to the property due to alcohol consumption will be charged to the guest.
4. The lodge is only for accommodation purposes and cannot be used for any other business or purpose without the express permission of a representative from Matakana Estate.
5. The cost for replacement of lost room keys or damaged locks is $100. Guests will be held liable for any damage to the room, lodge premises, or property caused by them or their guests during their stay. The lodge reserves the right to charge the guest's credit card to compensate for any expenses incurred due to damages.
6. Guests will be charged for any damage caused to the lodge's property during their stay. The property must be left in the same state as presented.
7. The lodge can only be used as an event venue if an event package has been booked with a representative from Matakana Estate. Unauthorized use of the lodge as an event venue may result in immediate cancellation of the accommodation, and the guest will be charged for any damages incurred.

Policy for guests staying in the lodge with accompanying children.
1. All children under the age of fifteen must always be supervised. Inside the lodge, in the swimming pool as well as outside on the grounds of the Estate.
2. No bikes, trikes, scooters, roller skates, skateboards and the like should be used inside the Lodge under any circumstances.
3. No standing or jumping on any furniture belonging to the lodge. Including the beds.
4. Please do not touch any of the artworks inside the lodge, including ornaments.

These rules are required to be followed by all guests to ensure a safe and enjoyable staycation at the lodge.

Payment Policy

Deposit and Final Payment

1. To secure the booking, 50% Deposit is required at the time of booking.

2.Once the deposit paid the booking is confirmed. Before payment is received, we reserve the right to terminate a prospective booking.

3. Payment of the full booking amount is due on Check-in.

4. We require a refundable bond of $1000, payable before 48 hours of check-in. Rest assured. This bond will be fully refunded upon a satisfactory inspection of the premises during check-out.

6. Payments by Credit Card attract a 3.0% fee surcharge.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change, and we strive to be as flexible as possible. However, please note our cancellation policy outlined below:
- Cancellations made at least 2 weeks before the stay: In such cases, we will make every effort to rebook your reservation to an alternative date as our first priority. If we are unable to find a suitable alternative date, an administration fee of 10% of the total charge will be retained from the initial deposit. This amount will not be refunded or credited.
- Cancellations made within 8-14 days of your booking: In the event of a cancellation within this timeframe, 50% of the total charge will apply. This means that your deposit will not be refunded or credited.
- Cancellations made within 7 days of your booking: For cancellations made within 7 days of your scheduled stay, 100% of the total charge will apply. Unfortunately, in such cases, we are unable to provide any refund or credit.

No Shows:
No refunds will be given for no shows.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we recommend considering travel insurance to protect against any unforeseen events that may lead to the need for cancellation.
