Mountain Heights Lodge provides comfortable accommodation options including bed and breakfast and self contained motel units for travellers wishing to stay in the Mt Ruapehu and Tongariro region. The Lodge is situated adjacent to Tongariro and Wanganui National Parks and is an excellent location from which to explore the mountains and enjoy the many wonderful activities in the area. Mountain Heights Lodge is ideally situated for both Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas . The Lodge is about 20 mintues drive from Whakapapa and 45 minutes drive from Turoa.

Comfortable, quality bed and breakfast accommodation is available in the lodge. B&B guests have access to a large lounge with log fire. Continental breakfast (B&B guests only ) await guests every morning. Children over the age of 14 years old are welcome to stay.

Fully equipped self contained motel units are located adjacent to the lodge and are perfect for families. We are pet friendly in the motel units only $20 per night for a small dog and $30 a night for a medium dog ( on request), you must bring a crate, there are terms and conditions. A private hot spa is available to all guests.

Mountain Heights Lodge is Ideally situated as a base for tramping the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Transport for you and a guide if necessary can be arranged and staff will advise you on all aspects of the walk.

Located half way between Auckland and Wellington, in the North Island, Mountain Heights Lodge is an ideal place to stop and explore Tongariro National Park, a World Heritage Area and New Zealand's first National Park made famous by its many beautiful walks, bike rides and snow sports. We have two cycle trails on our back door step. Marton Sash and Door and Fishers Track.

Terms & Conditions

1. Booking:

To confirm a booking, we will need a Visa or MasterCard details. Please book for the correct amount of people including children otherwise we may not be able to accommodate you.

Motel units adults and children welcome, BnB rooms welcomes adults only

2. Payment:

payment is taken 5 days before arrival


3. Check In 2 pm And Check Out:10 am

Check in time is after 2pm and check out is by 10am on the morning of your departure.

4. Policies:

We require a minimum two night stay on long weekends and public holidays
Smoking is not permitted inside any of our buildings. No PETS

5.Cancellation Policy:
- If you are a no show, or give less than 5 days cancellation notice, we will charge the whole booking.

6. Guest Responsibility

You "the guest" are responsible for any loss, theft or damage that occurs during your visit & will be charged full replacement costs.

Extra cleaning - if we deem the room to be in an unreasonable condition immediately after your departure, there will be an extra charge.
