Enjoy Penghana's old world hospitality and tranquil, elegant environment with 21st century comforts. To stay in this National Trust Mansion overlooking Queenstown on the rugged West Coast of Tasmania, is truly a unique experience.

The front entrance with its Huon pine ornamental panelling, Blackwood staircase, open fireplaces and spacious rooms are reminders of a significant past.

Penghana's 6 guest rooms (all upstairs on the first floor) are all individually decorated. 4 bedrooms are en-suited and the other 2 share a bathroom in their own wing of the house. You have the choice of 4 rooms with queen beds, a twin room with 2 double beds and a family room with queen bed and 2 king singles. You can be assured of a good night's sleep in extremely comfortable beds and the creature comforts we add. We endeavour to make your stay memorable and just perfect in every way.

The 2 rooms that share a bathroom, are the original 'guest wing' of the house and ideal for families or groups of up to 6 people.

The layout of the house is also perfect for small conferences and group getaways. Each event is tailored to your group's personal needs.

Enjoy the ambience of our stately dining room when you come downstairs for your silver service, traditional English style breakfast.

There is lots of space to relax in at Penghana as you have the choice of two guest lounges as well as a recreational room (originally the ballroom) on the ground floor, where you can play billiards, enjoy the pianola, play cards, board games or just enjoy a beer of one or our Tasmanian wines from our licensed bar, In the summer months there are several spots to sit and enjoy the garden and views.

Secure parking is a plus at Penghana also as we can accommodate cars, motor bikes and cycles.

The Jukes Suite is an upstairs, spacious, stylish room with a Queen sized bed and comfy armchairs to relax in or watch TV/DVD. This room is NOT EN-SUITED. It shares a bathroom and separate toilet facility with one other room (The Family Room). A cooked, silver service, traditional English style breakfast, served in our formal downstairs dining room is included in your tariff and served in our dining room. For your convenience the house offers 2 guest lounges, a recreational room and a communal area complete with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities.

NB: If you have a family or group of up to 6 travelling together who are prepared to share one bathroom, also booking The Family Room gives you a perfect arrangement in your very own wing.

Penghana B & B is an ideal venue for a residential retreat, small conference, group workshop or special week end away for a group of up to 14 adults. If you have a hobby group, a family or friends special celebration, need a small business strategic planning get away, a residential training workshop, a reunion, a personal development retreat or the like, talk to us!
What makes Penghana ideal for such occasions are our: 2 guest lounges, recreational room, formal dining room (which seats up to 14 people) and options for various 'break out' areas. Upstairs amongst our 6 bedrooms is a small communal area for your convenience with tea/coffee and facilities for snacks as well as fridge and microwave. The upstairs lounge area is set up to easily cater for morning/afternoon teas during meeting sessions.
Whether you prefer a formal affair or want a casual meal, we can plan with you to achieve your group's preferences. You might even like one of our " La De Dah afternoon teas'"with all the trimmings!
We have a liqour licence too.
Parking for everyone isn't a problem either.
We can also arrange the iconic tours that Queenstown is known for, so you don't have all work and no play!
The starting package gives you exclusive use of Penghana facilities for your group of 12 adults with 2 nights accommodation and a full silver service breakfast served in our dining room each morning. For an additional cost a further 2 adults can be accommodated if prepared to share.
Of our 6 bedrooms, 4 are en-suited queen rooms, and the other two Queen bedrooms share a bathroom. One of these rooms also has the capacity to accommodate a further 2 people in King Single beds, if required.

Terms & Conditions

'NO SMOKING' POLICY: No smoking is permitted within any internal area of this National Trust property. Ashtrays are provided for nominated "smoking permitted areas". For the comfort of other guests and insurance requirements, this policy is strictly enforced. Non conforming guests can expect to be asked to vacate the premises immediately, without a refund and pay an additional cleaning fee for the room/s effected.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATIONS: Penghana's free cancellation policy is honoured up to 24 hours prior to check in time of 3 p.m (Hobart time). On the eve of your expected arrival, we will take full payment for your booking, from your nominated card. Our Cancellation Policy, also offers you the opportunity to re-book using this payment as credit.

BOOKING CONFIRMATION: Reservations cannot be confirmed if contact details are not provided at the time of booking.
Without them, we cannot assist guests en-route with advice on directions, weather, travelling time, petrol refilling availability, timing for local dining options etc.

ARRIVAL TIME: To check-in outside Penghana's nominated times of 3 pm to 7 pm, guests are requested to make prior arrangement. We will endeavour to accommodate your request.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS: Arriving to check in with additional guests does not guarantee additional accommodation. Any extra person/persons who stay, are required to pay charges as advertised on our official web site. This also applies to children 2 years and over sleeping with parents, and not noted on confirmed booking. Penghana does not cater for additional temporary bedding in any room.

Payment Policy

Thank you for your credit card details. Payment will be processed 24 hours prior to your check in time. In the event you fail to check in, or cancel, we retain the right to process payment in accordance with our Cancellation Policy.

Penghana accepts Visa, Mastercard, Eftpos and of course cash.

We acknowledge some guests will have paid upfront with their travel agent. As this is not visible in our booking system, presentation of appropriate paperwork at check in, may be required.

Payment for extra guests not on any confirmed booking will be charged at current advertised rates and payable directly to Penghana B & B, upon check-in.

Payment for total venue hire, group bookings, conferences, retreats etc. requires a 50% deposit paid within 7 days of booking confirmation

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes your travel plans change. Cancellations or changes to bookings must be made the day before ( i.e. 24 hours prior your check in time of 3 p.m.- Hobart time) .

Any booking cancelled within 24 hours of check-in time incurs full payment of your proposed accommodation cost. We offer for you to use this payment as "credit" on an alternative booking, within 12 months of the original reservation.

For cancellation of retreats/conferences bookings, a non-refundable administration fee of $250 is payable from your 50% deposit. This deposit is non-refundable if cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to check-in date. Any non- refundable hire deposits made by Penghana on your behalf, are also your responsibility.
