Enjoy Penghana's old world hospitality and tranquil, elegant environment with 21st century comforts. To stay in this National Trust property is an unique experience. You have the choice of 4, upstairs, individually styled Queen size guest rooms (not suitable for children under 14 years), or a ground floor, 2 bedroom, fully self contained apartment ideal for families, groups, persons unable to navigate Penghana's stair case and those looking for self catering options. This option accommodates up to 5 people.

You can be assured of a good night's sleep in extremely comfortable beds no matter which room you choose. We endeavour to make your stay memorable and just perfect in every way with the creature comforts and little extras we add.

The layout of the house is also perfect for special events, small conferences and group getaways. Your groups needs can be tailored to your requirements.

B & B guests, can enjoy the ambience of our stately dining room when you come downstairs for your silver service, traditional "English/Australian" style, cooked breakfast.

There is lots of space to relax in at Penghana. In the main house you have the choice of two guest lounges as well as a recreational room (originally the ballroom) on the ground floor, where you can play billiards, enjoy the pianola, play cards, board games or just enjoy a beer of one or our Tasmanian wines from our licensed bar. In the summer months there are several spots to sit and enjoy the garden and views or have a BBQ or a picnic on the lawn.

Guests occupying the 2 bedroom self contained apartment can also access the recreational room, garden and BBQ area.

Secure parking is a plus at Penghana also as we can also safely accommodate cars, motor bikes and cycles.

Penghana B & B is an ideal venue for: residential retreats, small conferences, group workshops or a special 'get away' break, for up to 12 adults.
We personalise your group's varying requirements, so whether you are a hobby group, having a family or friends' special celebration/reunion, a business strategic planning retreat, residential training workshop, personal development course or the like, your stay at Penghana will be tailored just for you.

• The upstairs casual lounge/dining area seats 12 people comfortably with adjoining kitchenette able to cater for morning/afternoon teas or light lunch.
This area is also perfect for a quiet coffee, a nightcap or a social hub.
• The spacious downstairs formal lounge also seats 12 for a relaxed meeting, social gathering or just for personal space.
• The original ballroom is now a great recreational space/function room with piano, billiards etc. AND with secret, swift modifications the billiard table becomes a great craft table.
• We cater for formal dining, casual meals, a BBQ, just drinks/platters or one of our " La De Dah afternoon teas" with all the trimmings! Penghana is also a licensed premise.
• The many spaces within the house provides versatile 'break out' areas or quiet discussion nooks. We even have an attic room at your disposal which has
previously hosted Shakespeare readings, ballet lessons, been a school room, a playroom and an indoor clothes line. Today it is Penghana's secret creative place.
• Parking isn't a problem either
• So you don't have all work and no play, we can arrange the iconic tours that Queenstown is known for

Functions - Room Hire Book

Penghana's 'original ballroom' is available for functions, for up to 30 adults. It is suitable for a variety of gatherings such as: launches, meetings, exhibitions, cocktail parties and special events/celebrations.
As the space is dominated by the unmovable billiard table, it is NOT suitable for sit down dinners, but ideal for light lunches, finger food and celebratory drinks. Penghana is also a licenced premise.
We liaise with you on all aspects of your function and tailor to your individual needs and budget. Venue hire is an initial charge with further costs applying in line with your specific requirements and catering. Parking, will also be negotiated at time of booking. Hence the many reasons to liaise with us directly before booking!

Accommodation bookings will NOT be confirmed until all guest details are provided on our booking page.

Penghana's cancellation policy expires 3 p.m. Hobart time, 72 hrs (3 days) prior to check in, when full booking payment is taken.

Bookings made with online travel agents may be subject to different terms and conditions outside our control.

CHECK IN TIME: 3 pm to 7 pm. Outside this period, prior arrangement is necessary via phone contact.

Arriving with additional guests, does not guarantee extra accommodation. Extra person/persons who stay, pay Penghana's advertised web site rates.

Penghana's EN-SUITED ROOMS are NOT suitable for infants, toddlers or children under 14 years. NOTE: Our 2 bedroom apartment IS FAMILY FRIENDLY, catering for children and infants.

For insurance purposes, smoking is NOT permitted within any internal area of this National Trust property and is strictly enforced. Non-conforming guests can expect to be asked to vacate the premises immediately, without a refund and be liable for additional cleaning fees if applicable.

Replacement cost for loss/damage in guest rooms/common areas, caused by any guest during their stay, will be charged back.

Payment Policy

Full booking payment is processed 72 hrs prior to check in using card details supplied at time of booking. 'Whole of venue' bookings require 25% deposit for confirmation, with balance payable 60 days before arrival.
Invoiced accommodation is due and payable upon presentation of invoice.
Bookings made under 72 hours to check in require upfront, non-refundable payment.
No refunds available for booking changes made during your stay.

Penghana accepts Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB and Eftpos.

Proof of prepaid travel agent bookings may need confirmation at check in .

Additional expenses during your stay are payable at check out.

Cancellation Policy

We do understand sometimes travel plans change!
No fees are charged for cancellation/changes to direct bookings made more than 72 hours prior to check in (3 p.m. Hobart time). Cancellations under 72 hours forfeit total booking payment. Can be applied as a credit towards a future booking (validity 12 months).
This Cancellation policy does not apply to total venue hire.

SNOW & SEVERE WEATHER POLICY: As guest safety is always our prime concern, we use the Official Road Closure Updates on Tasmania's Police Website to determine the reality of guests' safely driving to Penghana. We will also communicate with you via contact details supplied at booking.
If highway access to Penghana is officially 'closed' at 11 a.m. on the day of your confirmed booking, your reservation will be cancelled and we will happily raise a 'credit voucher' for the full value (Valid for 12 months). f highway access is NOT officially 'closed'', at 11 a.m. on the day of your confirmed booking, our standard cancellation policy applies if you choose not to check in.
Guests unable to leave Penghana for any reason, are responsible for additional accommodation costs.
