Fit for Kings and Queens of the mountain this grand old dame is one of the largest original houses in Derby. She’s got a lot to offer with plenty of sunlight and a spunky character.
Enjoy the view over Derby's slopes from the elevated veranda, dine on the two-tier deck in the garden and recount the day’s adventures in front of the fire in the sprawling lounge.
Open-plan living and boho decor make this house glamorous enough to feel on holiday and comfortable enough to feel at home.
The space
Located on Main Street, The Queen is situated just a stone’s throw from Derby’s shops.
The house was renovated in 2021 and decorated with guests and riders in mind, so trust that it’s well-equipped to deal with tangled lake water hair, muddy clothes and hard-ridden bikes.
The lounge room is decked out with big comfy couches that double as futon-style sofa beds. Light-filled windows face Derby’s iconic quarry slope, high ceilings and beautiful Tasmanian oak floorboards tell the story of its past as the elegant home of the town’s bank manager.
At night, crank up the giant heat pump or gather around the log fire to share the day’s highlights and cast videos of them on the smart TV.
There’s room for everyone around the dining table. The dining room connects the lounge with the kitchen and creates a great space for communal meals and sharing stories.
Huge glass doors open up to the deck, where black bamboo shelters from the wind while you soak up the last rays of sunlight. Create a BBQ sensation or just sit back and relax while watching the buzz of Main Street and the pretty view of the forested slope across the lake.
The kitchen is well-equipped and big enough to cook a proper meal in. A gas stovetop, oven, microwave, and extended benchtop space make it perfectly possible to enjoy at night in with the team. Your caffeine fix is taken care of with an Expressatoria coffee pod machine.
All three bedrooms are decked out for your comfort with excellent mattresses, electric blankets, and hotel-quality linen.
Both King beds can be split into separate extra-long single beds if you prefer.
The main bathroom might benefit from a facelift, but it is not short on functionality. There’s a good shower with infinite hot water supply, a bathtub, a hairdryer and hair straightener and a mirror big enough to practice ballet.
Naturally, there’s plenty of room for your bike in the Queen’s stables. A neat wall-mounted storage system and secure lock-up will keep your bike safe, fully rested, and ready for tomorrow’s adventures. Should your bike need some TLC, there’s an outdoor wash station and an indoor grooming salon with tools and a bike stand. Conveniently, the bike stables also feature a basic laundry with a washer and dryer.
Guest access
The house is yours and yours alone.
The third bedroom is part of an additional unit within the same building, giving access to a basic kitchenette and a second bathroom with a shower and separate toilet. Note that this room is only available to parties of more than 4 people.
Other things to note that there are two futon lounges in the living area that can be used for additional guests taking your group size from 6 to 8.

Credit card details are kept securely on file as your security deposit, should any damage occur during your stay.
We reserve the right to charge an $800 fee to cover the excess for property damages.
We reserve the right to charge an excess cleaning fee of $250 if the property is left in an unsatisfactory state.
