The Royal Hotel Mornington is located less than 1 hour from Melbourne. Retire to quiet seclusion at The Royal Hotel on the second floor. Built in 1857, this heritage building has newly renovated accommodation to update the facilities whilst respecting the era it was created in. Currently offering 5 boutique rooms, the hotel offers guests a luxurious and relaxing place to call home while exploring the Mornington Peninsula. The two grande suites enjoy generous room sizes, ensuite (double shower, double vanity, claw foot bath) and large private balcony areas with spectacular bay views. The three premium suites available feature standard room size, ensuite and private balcony area. All rooms may choose to order room service from the bistro menu from midday to 9pm. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate and delivered to your room to enjoy inside or on the balcony.

The Royal Hotel offers impeccable quality and comfort for corporate and leisure guests. The hotel has two on-site dining areas; the Bistro and Tavern. The Bistro is a smart casual dining area where you can indulge your culinary senses with a modern Australian menu created by Head Chef, Dane Shaw. House specialties include scallops roasted in the half shell, seafood marinara, Pure South porterhouse and a selection of fabulous, house made desserts. The Tavern is a relaxed, casual, family friendly environment. The perfect meeting place for a quiet drink or a bar meal. Cosy up by the open fire in winter or enjoy the sensational water views from the beer garden in summer. Open daily for lunch and dinner.

Getting married? The Royal Hotel is the perfect location to hold your grande event. The ceremony can be held at a local church, or nearby location including Mornington Park, Schnapper Point, Royal Beach or one of many cliff-top aspects along the coastline. The hotel’s accommodation is not only a place to sleep, but a convenient and lavish place to prepare for your special day. We have oversized suites and bathrooms available which make it ideal for wedding party preparations and photos. The Victoriana Room offers a separate entry, private bar, outdoor area and dining room which can accommodate up to 150 pax cocktail and 100 pax sit down. Or, for a larger wedding, the restaurant can also accommodate a further 150 pax. Appointment preferred to view the venue, though not essential.

Terms & Conditions

Payment Policy

• Full payment is required at the time of booking.
• Payments may be made by Visa, MasterCard, cash or personal / bank cheques (allow 7 days transaction time)
• Bookings are subject to the availability and applicable pricing of the room at the time of the booking and some conditions and/exclusions may apply including but not limited to minimum stay requirements.
• if any part of your booking falls on a date which is classified as a Peak Season Booking date then your entire booking will be deemed a Peak Season Booking and any terms or conditions which apply to Peak Season Bookings will apply to your entire booking.
• Any quote given is an estimate only of price and the price will only be confirmed once a payment is made on the booking and you receive written advice from The Royal Hotel that the payment has been received and the booking has been confirmed.
• Any confirmed price is subject to change if:
• a payment which is due on a booking is not received by The Royal Hotel by the date the payment is due.
• If the price of a booking is changed you may pay the new price for your booking or cancel your booking and receive a full refund.
• If you reasonably believe a written confirmation or invoice which has been provided to you is incorrect, you can request that The Royal Hotel reissue that written confirmation or invoice and you may either pay the amount specified on the reissued written confirmation or invoice by the date which it is specified as being due, or cancel your booking.
• When you check-in you may be asked to provide photographic identification.
• Quoted rates are inclusive of all compulsory government or regulatory charges and taxes (for example GST)
• Some rates which are quoted are valid only for a minimum number of nights and if the number of nights included in your booking changes the rate may also change.
• To the extent permitted by law any amount paid by you to The Royal Hotel for your booking is non-refundable unless stated otherwise in these Terms and Conditions.
• The Terms and Conditions are governed by and will be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia.
• If part or all of any clause of these Terms and Conditions is illegal, invalid or unenforceable then it will be read down to the extent necessary to ensure that it is not illegal, invalid or unenforceable, but if that is not possible, it will be severed from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions will continue to have full force and effect.

Cancellation Policy

• For Off Peak Season Bookings if you cancel your booking the following charges will apply in relation to each room you have booked:
• Up to 14 days prior to your scheduled check-in time: a $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from any monies which you have already paid.
• Within 14 days but up to 48 hours of your scheduled check-in time: a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from any monies which you have already paid.
• Within 48 hours of your scheduled check-in time: a 100% cancellation fee will
• For Peak Season Bookings if you cancel your booking the following charges will apply in relation to each room you have booked:
• Up to 30 days prior to your scheduled check-in time: a $300 cancellation fee (or the full amount of your booking if your booking is for less than $300)
• Within 30 days of your scheduled check-in time: a 100% cancellation fee will apply

No-Shows or Terminations
• If you do not show up for your booking or terminate your booking early after you have checked in you will be charged a 100% cancellation fee and will be required to pay to The Royal Hotel the full amount of your booking less any amount which you have already paid.
• All amendments are subject to the availability and applicable pricing of The Royal Hotel at the time the amendment is requested.
• Up to 14 days prior to your scheduled check-in time a $25.00 amendment fee will apply.
• Within 14 days of your scheduled check-in time: a $50.00 amendment fee will apply.
• If the rate which applies to an amended booking is greater than the rate which applied to the original booking, you must pay the difference along with any amendment fee in full at the time the amendment is approved.
• To the extent permitted by law any amount paid by you to The Royal Hotel for your booking is non-refundable unless stated otherwise in these Terms and Conditions.
• You must provide a credit card authorisation or imprint when you check-in.
• This authorisation may be used to cover incidental items including but not limited to, security bond or deposit for any breakages or damage incurred during your stay or cleaning charges in excess of the normal level of cleaning.
• The pre-authorisation process validates your credit card, and protects both the cardholder and merchant from increasing fraud incidents.
• The pre-authorised amount is set aside by the card issuer for a period of up to 14 days from the date of pre-authorisation and the pre-authorisation will affect your available funds balance or spending limit. For more information on this practice please contact your card issuer.
• Once a pre-authorisation has been made The Royal Hotel cannot release, remove or lower the authorised amount, until we process the final account on departure. This is a restriction imposed by the card issuer, and cannot be negotiated.
• Where a credit card is not available a minimum $200.00 cash deposit will be required on check-in.
