Rm 1 - The Florence Suite Book

The Florence Suite is a spacious heritage room, situated on the ground floor boasting a beautiful bay window with views of one of Launceston’s most prestigious streets. This spacious room has multiple seating options including our elegant leather Chesterfield couch, comfy king bed, large kitchenette and en-suite area. The room comes with flat screen TV and free wifi.
This lovely room is named after Florence Green the original lady of the house. Florence and her husband Arthur built Windarra on High in approximately 1880 and lived in the house until 1924 with their four sons and one daughter.

Rm 2 - The Garden Suite Book

Situated on the ground floor our Superior suite boasting beautiful earthy tones is the perfect spot to curl up in front of the cosy fire with your loved one. Or enjoy the peaceful ever changing garden views with ferns, Ivy and Hydrangeas from your comfy queen bed. The refurbished ensuite and kitchenette with lush green tones and a walk in shower will be sure to please. This room comes complete with an electric fireplace, built-in wardrobes, flat screen TV, free WiFi, and kitchenette including all the necessities for an enjoyable stay.

Rm 3 - The Rose Room Book

“A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet”, (Shakespeare) The Rose Room certainly has an air of sweetness. With views of the front rose garden as well as the stunning mountains beyond surrounding Launceston. The deluxe queen room features soft blue hues, a comfy queen size bed and a cute sitting area where you can enjoy a quiet cuppa. The Rose room has its own en-suite, coffee and tea making facility, flat screen TV and free WiFi.

Rm 4 – The Somerset Suite Book

On entry you will be surprised at the spaciousness of this lovely suite. Not only is the room well equipped with flat screen TV, free WiFi, and comfy sitting area, but also comes with a well-functioning kitchen great for extended stays. As the sun sets over Launceston you have the perfect vantage point to watch the twinkling of the evening lights brighten the sky.
The Somerset room was named as a tribute to Windarra’s history as “The Somerset House Rest Home” during the late 1930’s and 40’s. Here expecting mothers and the elderly all found a place of rest at Windarra under the watchful care of Sister Drew, the resident nurse. We hope this room will give you the same level of rest and refreshment as its past lodgers.

Rm 8 - The Windmill Room (twin share) Book

This is our gorgeous twin room featuring 2 comfy single beds that can easily be joined to make a king bed. Whether you’re 2 siblings sharing while Mum & Dad are in The Lady Franklin room next door or 2 travel companions on a budget we hope this room will inspire great memories of the day’s explorations as you watch the sunset. There is plenty of room to spread out in this well designed room including a flat screen TV, coffee & Tea facilities, fridge and microwave for your late night popcorn and WiFi.

Rm 7 – Lady Franklin Room Book

As you enter our Lady Franklin room the first thing that will catch your eye is the lovely painting of sailboats. This soft and tranquil room is equipped with a comfy queen bed, built-in cupboards, tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen tv and ensuite. Lady Jane Franklin for whom the room is named was the wife of John Franklin, who was appointed lieutenant-governor of Van Diemen's Land in 1836. Lady Franklin was an enthusiastic traveller among other things too many to mention. She was the first white woman to climb Mount Wellington and to travel overland from Melbourne to Sydney and from Hobart to Macquarie Harbour. In her old age she visited the United States of America, Hawaii, Japan, and India. We highly recommend investing some time to research this feisty lady of Tasmanian history.

Rm 6 – The Elizabeth Room Book

This lovely cosy room says relax from the gorgeous little fireplace to the lush green colour palate. From this perfect vantage point you can enjoy city views with the mountains beyond day or night. The room is well equipped with flat screen TV, coffee and tea making facilities, free WiFi, as well as your own en-suite. Please be sure to take note of the antique bird prints over the bed, the sketches of artist and Illustrator and Elizabeth Gould. Who spent time in Australia with her husband, naturalist John Gould in the 1800’s drawing from sight hundreds of species of birds for his publication Birds of Australia. This room is a tribute to her love for our Australian Flora and Fauna.
