With 3 accommodation options and all the facilities you need, you can choose the private, peaceful farm stay experience, or if you prefer, an action-packed interactive stay filled with activities, including cooking classes, winery tours and whatever else you would like us to organise.

Trish is passionate about food and draws from a wealth of experience in the food and beverage industry with two multi award winning food businesses – The Bear and the Ladle Gourmet condiments and Burma In Ya Belly – to her credit, so you can be assured the menu will be diverse, tasty and delicious! Of course, with both businesses proud to hold the Slow Food Convivium’s “Snail of Approval”, it goes without saying that ethically produced local farm produce will be at the heart of the Hamlet Downs food journey, standing by the ethos of good, clean and fair.

Steve and Trish now also create award winning smallgoods products direct from the farm business called Hamlet Downs Country Smallgoods to their credit, now also a multi award winning business.

If relaxing and just be-ing is your thing, why not spend the day exploring Hamlet Downs’ 36 acres of serenity, Old Marn Sunny the friendly 14 year old pooch might be seen wandering around, say hello to our resident Alpacas Arnold and Eps, also the sheep Cath and Kim, Meryl, Beryl and Cheryl and co.
Enjoy watching the big pigs and chooks potter and dig about, and let us know if you see any ducks eggs so we can whip up some duck egg pasta or see if you can spot our local, Percy the resident platypus in the dam.

Make sure to ask Farmer Steve for a ‘Farm Tour’ where he will drive you right to the top of the hill to feed the pigs and witness the best view from atop Hamlet Hill at The Thirsty Hog Bar - On a clear day see all the way to the spire atop Mt.Wellington.

There are so many amazing experiences at your fingertips, the hardest thing will be deciding what to do!

Visit The Raspberry Farm at Westerway, enjoy a wine at Meadowbank Winery, definitely head to The Possum Shed for great food and country hospitality will top off your visit. Wonder about and enjoy the scenery at Lake Pedder, hike Mt. Field National Park’s multitude of walks, visit the Hop Fields or Salmon Ponds, and sip a cider at Plenty Cider.

If angling is your thing, discover why the Tasmanian Central Highlands is considered one of the world’s premium trout fishing destinations.

Additionally, just 30 minutes away is the historical town of New Norfolk where you can enjoy the Saturday markets and indulge in hours of antique shop fossicking, and lunch at the stunningly refurbished ‘The Bush Inn’ with weekend long, live music is a must, poke around and find a treasure trove of trinkets and bric-a-brac to take home as a reminder of your wonderful Tasmanian escape.
